Russian Embassy Says Disarming Regions In Georgia Could Take Some Time
Russian troops are pulling out of Georgian territory, but expect that disarming the regions as they withdraw may take some time, according to an official at the Russian Embassy in Washington. He also denied charges that the Russian army has engaged in any looting or ethnic cleansing.
Yevgeniy Khorishko, the press secretary for the Russian Embassy, told RTTNews that some delays were inevitable as Russian troops have to secure “hundreds of tanks” and thousands of small arms left behind by fleeing Georgian troops following Moscow’s August 8th intervention.
